It amazes me still why I never married that man.

So, TBF won the lottery. I know, you are saying "There is no God." So you think maybe he spread the wealth to his son? Not a freakin' chance.

The Boys coworkers from TBF's shop looked upon him in pity and said, "Dude, too bad yer mom didn't win." Even they knew he wouldn't see a dime.

So today the boy is 23. I could not be more proud of him and took him yesterday to buy new work clothes and boots. TBF says to him, "New gear? What's the occasion?"  Mind like a steel trap, that one.

Quick thinker that he is, he sends his daughter to MacDonalds to pick up lunch and as a birthday honor, he allows The Boy first pick from the assortment of cookies.

The man is generous to a fault.

UPDATE: New Information: Turns out the daughter bought lunch, TBF didn't even pay for the cookies. Pitiful.

THE BOY IS 20 TODAY!

He is the best thing that ever happened to me. I am so proud of him I could bust. My only regret is his sperm donor.

Happy Birthday!

The Boy is Legal!

The Boy turns 19 today.

Man, does that statement make a girl feel old. I just wish I could win the lottery so I could give him whatever he wants.

[Sigh] He will just have to be happy with a little gas money and an 'I Love You'.

And this...

Click here if you can't see the video.

Happy Birthday! Luv Ya!

UPDATE:

Taking The Boy to the Frog and Toad for a birthday dinner. And a beer. (I am soooo old)

The Birthday went well.

My friend came over with cake...

... and presents...

... and dinner.

Then over to the Undisclosed Customer Service Center™ to meet Bunnie for her break, and pick up this.

Jammies and what I think is a mouse. She spent top dollar trying to get it out of a vending machine.(I would have paid to watch that.)

And my sister, never to be outdone even when she couldn't be here. Deposited a ridiculous amount of money into my bank account. Honestly? I would have rather had her here instead.

I miss her.

Happy Birthday, Internet.

"On New Year’s Day 1983, while the rest of the world slept off a night of partying, a small group of computer experts in the U.S. found themselves hard at work, taking deep breaths with fingers crossed."

What was I doing? Let's see, in 1983 I was 18. Still in high school. I probably heard about this at the time but I was pretty much a stoner (which explained why I was still in high school at 18) so I would have made fun of the person who informed me of this little tidbit of info. I don't remember them making a big deal about it in school. I guess Al Gore was keeping a low profile. (idiot)

Was pretty much a non-issue anyway because in my neck of the woods, we didn't get internet until the mid 90's. I remember using BBS systems first, then dial-up services for years.

However, I was a geek early on. I remember my brother getting a computer when he started his business. As soon as I saw it, I couldn't keep my hands off it. It was an Amiga 500 (or possibly a 1000 or 2000). It had no hard drive, you loaded the ROM and the operating system. And you had to save everything on floppy disk before you shut it down, or you lost everything.

Believe it or not, I spent hours playing text adventure games. I know, it sounds lame, but at the time, it was addictive. Try them for yourself. Mine were not this fancy, imagine all of that on a black dos screen. I had to actually type 'move north' or 'look east' or 'drop knife' all while trying not to fuck up the map (which I had to create myself) so I didn't get lost. And once I learned to do basic programming, forget about it. If your a geek, and of a certain age, you have created random bouncing ball or 'Hello World!'.

Anyway, I hope you find this trip down memory lane informative. How far back in internet history do you go?

Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

According to Google and the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I should be the answer. (I might just try and watch that again tonight. I was never able to sit through the entire thing, either I was too stoned or not stoned enough each time I tried.)

How does 42 make me fee? I feel good, maybe not the best I have felt but do I wish I was 24? No.

When I was 24 it was 1989. Not a great year for either me or Ted Bundy. That was the year my father died and it wrecked me.

Others had a great year, Colin Powel for instance and George Bush Sr. for another. And of course those people who had to stare at that retarded wall in Berlin for years on end wondering what was on the other side.

Then I start thinking, what was a good year for me? If there was one I could go back to, what would it be? I don't mean be a teenager now (you couldn't pay me to do that) I mean literally go back to a specific year in my life. I will have to think about that one.

Do you have a year in your life you would like to visit if you could? Tell us all about it.

And another thing...

Tracey and Andrew were here for my birthday and brought me a cake.

Death By Chocolate!
